The 7th day Sabbath: The Greatest Deception In Christianity

The Sabbath

I find this entire dialogue is a great resource for bible verses regarding this sabbath.

Last Call got me all riled up about the Sabbath day over the weekend --

Their post reads as follows

“But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.”

Acts 13:14

I’ve heard people say, “Well yeah, they went into the synagogue. That’s where the JEWS were on the Sabbath day.” Well, the Bible has an answer to that.

42 “And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.”

Let’s see that again. “When the congregation was broken up, MANY of the Jews AND religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the GRAAACE of God.”

Did you get that? Ladies and gentlemen, I’m so thankful to know that the Bible teaches New Testament Christians SAVED by grace and LIVING under grace STILL KEPT the Sabbath day! Can you say amen? Whether they are Jews or Gentiles.

44 “And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.”

IT DIDN’T MATTER IF HE WAS PREACHING THE JEWS, IT DIDN’T MATTER IF HE WAS CONVERTING THE GENTILES. Paul PREACHED on the Sabbath day and KEPT IT HOLY. And so did ALL the New Testament Church. And did you know that even without a church building they still kept the Sabbath holy?

Let’s go to chapter 16, it talks about Paul making a missionary journey here…

“And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.

And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.”

Acts 16:12

Again, even without a church building, THEY STILL HONOR THE SABBATH DAY. Let’s go to chapter 18. We have another story involving the early Christian church at Corinth…

“And he reasoned in the synagogue EVERY SABBATH, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.”

Acts 18:4

Every Sabbath they kept. Do you know how long he was there keeping the Sabbath?

11 “And he continued there A YEAR AND SIX MONTHS, teaching the word of God among them.”

This was the Corinthian people. They raised up one of the greatest churches in the Old Testament called the church in Corinth. And the Bible tells us PAUL PREACHED TO THEM EVERY SABBATH FOR ONE AND A HALF YEARS! The Corinthian church was A SABBATH-KEEPING CHURCH! Can you say amen? That’s CRYSTAL-CLEAR!

It’s all in the New Testament. In fact, if you take the New Testament alone, do you realize that there are 84 SEVENTH-DAY SABBATH KEPT in the book of Acts alone? That’s encouraging! That’s a lot of verses!

And in fact, do you realize that every man, every woman, and every child in this Bible, spending 4000 YEARS of this Earth’s history, do you realize that every one of them that believe in the TRUE God of heaven, the God of this Bible, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM WAS A SABBATH KEEPER ON THE 7TH DAY OF THE WEEK? There’s no exceptions.

Not only that. JESUS HIMSELF, GOD IN THE FLESH, KEPT THE SABBATH DAY.

And not only that. This Bible is composed of 66 BOOKS, 36 DIFFERENT AUTHORS, and EVERY man who wrote every Word, in the Inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God, was a 7th day Sabbath keeper! No exceptions. You got EVERY person for 4,000 years of earth’s history who follow the TRUE God, you got God Himself, you got EVERY man that was inspired by the Word of this Bible — THAT’S A LOT OF TRUTH AND GOOD COVENANT!

You got the Gospel writers: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. But most of you may realize, and some of you may not, that just about all THE REST of the New Testament was written by Paul. He was the great writer of most of these books that we’re going through like Romans, and Corinthians, and Philippians. And he makes an incredible statement —

“For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.”

Acts 20:27

Now, follow this carefully: Paul makes a statement here. IF THERE WAS A CHANGE in something as MAJOR as a day of worship, WHY DIDN’T HE TELLS US ABOUT IT? IF THERE WAS A CHANGE in something SO BIG that now one of the 10 Commandments is GONE and REPLACED with something else, WHY DIDN’T HE TELL US ABOUT IT?

You know, the New Testament church is full of debates. For example: Circumcision. Circumcision almost SPLIT the New Testament church! And they devoted CHAPTER AFTER CHAPTER dealing with that SIMPLE issue of circumcision! Can you IMAGINE what it will be like if they try to change the day of worship?! Paul would have written VOLUMES about it! Can you say amen?! But he didn’t say anything.

In fact, let me surprise you. THERE ARE 112 VERSES in your Bible that TEACH THE 7TH DAY SABBATH OF THE LORD. A hundred and twelve.

By the way, you got 20 verses on a subject that all say the same thing, you got truth. BUT WHEN YOU GOT OVER 100 VERSES THAT TEACHES THE SAME THING, you have got UNDISPUTABLE TRUTH. Can you say amen?

On the other hand, there is NOT ONE TEXT in this Bible from Genesis to Revelation that says Sunday is the Sabbath or that it was changed from Saturday to Sunday, or anything like that whatsoever. Now, that oughta shock you. And that would make me think, “Paul, if you declared ALL the counsel of God, and something as major as this happened, why didn’t you tell us about it?” Why didn’t he tell us? Because THERE’S NOT EVEN A HINT OF IT IN THE BIBLE.

You may be aware that there are people who are willing to offer a certain amount of money to anybody that can disprove this statement. Just bring them one text that says Sunday is the day of worship, or it’s changed from Saturday to Sunday, or anything like that, and they’ll give you the money.

Now, I remember one time there was an elderly lady, bless her heart, she was quite poor. And she would come to evangelistic meetings and she heard this challenge, and she was so excited she came running up on the stage, and she said, “List my name down. There’s texts like that all over the Bible! Sunday is the Sabbath! That’s the clearest teaching in the Bible!” and so the pastor listed her name down.

Next night she came in, her head down, she came to the pastor, she said, “I went home and started to search my Bible and I couldn’t find it. So I called my preacher. It was about 10 o’ clock and he wasn’t happy cos I got him out of bed, and he told me, ‘It’s not there. Don’t worry about it.’ That really got me mad so I decided to call every preacher in the phonebook till I couldn’t call them so I called them all today. I called 32 preachers. And not one of them could give me a Bible verse. I heard a lot of excuses but I didn’t find one Bible verse.” She was so sad. The pastor gave her some money anyway just to make her feel better.

I see people still trying to do it today. I saw one woman, I think one or two weeks ago, who was very excited to share that she found Sunday in the Old Testament. She quoted “on the morrow after the sabbath” from Leviticus 23:11, the Wave Sheaf Offering which was symbolic of Christ’s resurrection. Her post was slightly long. But I told her that she missed one CRUCIAL point: While Jesus’ resurrection was on the first day of the week (now known as Sunday), it was “the morrow after the sabbath” (now known as Saturday). She didn’t like what I said at all, and you can just imagine how she talked to me after that. Sad, but this subject conjures up some very strange emotions to those who don’t wanna hear the truth.

Okay, so I was riled up, and I'm sure there's a million reasons why one could be while reading it --

and I was compelled to keep the fire burning for a moment longer:

Woohoo, you got me all inspired!

Only patterns pointing to Christ’s sacrifice were done away with when he died (Daniel 9:27), and a Sabbath rest still remains for God’s people (Hebrews 4:9). It is amongst others, a future tense symbol of God’s pattern and his promise to return and give us rest.

We mustn’t overlook what the first angels message truly says as well – –

“And he said with a loud voice, Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.

Revelation of John 14:7

–the first angel says ‘worship God as creator’! And what day has God specified for this? The Sabbath 🙂

“And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.

Genesis 2:2-3

–God created the Sabbath for mankind

“Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord say, The Lord will surely separate me from his people; and let not the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.

For thus says the Lord: To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who choose the things that please me and hold fast my covenant, I will give in my house and within my walls a monument and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off.

And the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant— these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings (prayers: Revelation 5:8) and their sacrifices (Christ’s death: Hebrews 10:26) will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples. The Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declares, I will gather yet others to him besides those already gathered. “

Isaiah 56:3-8

And Jesus repeated this, saying – –

“I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd.

John 10:16

And of the Sabbath for mankind, in a straightforward manner, he said – –

Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.

Mark 2:27

Lastly, we only need the new testament to understand our role (the old confirms it). Our role? We must put effort into and accept the truth, that we are sinners and can not keep the law perfectly, but in keeping it, it is proof that we believe (James 2:14-26), knowing that it is his perfect righteousness that is good enough, and our struggle to emulate him [however flawed] that keeps with repentance in bearing good fruit. This is the essence of faith.

“Whoever says I know him but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may be sure that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

1 John 2:4-6

Jesus said – –

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”

John 14:15

Its weird to think that as a Sabbath keeper, we are just as capable of breaking it as if we were not; but in admitting it exists, in keeping with true conviction and truth, and in keeping the Sabbath God set apart, we worship and call upon the God of the bible, the true Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 11:2-4).

In Him there is Hope(Romans 15:12-13). In Him there is strength(Job 36:5). He is our forgiveness and only savior(Isaiah 43:11). With Him there still remains a Sabbath rest(Hebrews 4:9), from Him is the Spirit by which we are set free (2 Corinthians 3:17), and at His right hand there are pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11).

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is "Lord of the Sabbath" 🙂
